Holiday Season Driving Tips

As a Harrisburg car accident injury lawyer, I help people who have been injured by others in motor vehicle accidents get their lives back on track by helping them recover medical bills, lost wages and other monetary damages they have suffered.  Although some car accidents are unavoidable, the majority of those I see could have been prevented.

The winter Holidays are upon us!  However, this time of year isn’t always full of fun times, feasts and family celebrations.  When talking about Holiday travel on Pennsylvania’s roads, this time of year can be downright dangerous.  If you have to drive this Holiday Season, please be safe and take it slowly.

Tips for Safe Holiday Season Driving:

  1. Watch out for other Drivers:

Be alert and watch for other drivers approaching you from all directions.  If you see a driver approaching with his or her head down, be ready to take defensive action!  You must anticipate that other drivers will drive while texting or while thinking about all those holiday shopping bargains they’re after.

  1. Look both ways at all Traffic Lights and Stop Signs:

Even when you have the green light or right of way, other drivers may accelerate and try to get through.  Take your time at a light or stop sign to look as far down the other road as possible.  Anticipate that others are in a hurry this time of year.

  1. Drive at or under the Speed Limit:

Holiday traffic, inattentive drivers, snow and other factors may require you to slow your speed.  Remember, sometimes you may have to drive under the speed limit if the conditions require it.  Nothing ruins a holiday like a car accident!

  1. Don’t Drive while Distracted:

Talking on your cell phone, texting, adjusting the stereo, eating, putting on make up and shaving are just some of the things people do nowadays in their cars.  If you have to talk on the phone, go hands free, but never, ever text while driving.

  1. Don’t Drink and Drive:

The Holiday Season is a great time to visit with family and friends and there’s nothing wrong with sharing a little holiday cheer!  However, please, don’t drive if you have been drinking.

This Holiday Season, remember the above tips and please drive safely.  For more tips or to talk to an experienced automobile accident injury lawyer in the Harrisburg-York areas, please contact me.
